Wedding Venues

Choosing a venue to suit you is a crucial decision to make when planning your wedding. The venue will partly depend on whether you are having a religious wedding or a civil ceremony.

If you are having a religious ceremony the venue will largely depend on your religion. This could be a church, mosque, synagogue, temple, or other religious place of worship.

For a civil ceremony you may decide to marry in the local registry office. This generally offers a cheaper alternative to other venues, but the number of guests will be limited, and the ceremony length will have to be on the shorter side.

Due to changes in the law, hotels, stately homes, castles, public houses, and other venues can now be licensed for civil ceremonies. These often provide very attractive settings for weddings. The prices can vary widely so make sure you shop around to find a suitable place that is within your budget.

You should aim to book your wedding venue at least one year before you plan to marry.
